Executive Producer/Editor - Jimmy Sammarco
Jimmy makes movies...
Jimmy was raised by his mom Sharon, an exceptional nurse, and his father Michael, a machinist, Korean War vet, world class swimmer for the Army, and founder of the motorcycle club, the Gypsy Outlaws. Early on, Jimmy shared his Dad’s affinity for motorcycles, particularly Dad’s 1969 Triumph, and his love of swimming. And those interests continued into his adult years.
He attended the University of Wisconsin Madison on a swimming scholarship where he earned a BA in Communication Arts and went on to become a world ranked long distance swimmer.
Jimmy is currently a freelance cinematographer and filmmaker. Throughout his 20 years in the business, Jimmy has gained extensive experience as a Producer, Director, and Editor creating 100’s of award winning video projects for organizations such as SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, LIBMAN, NBC, CBS, KIMBERLY-CLARK, ABBOT LABS, JOHN DEERE, MILWAUKEE ELECTRIC TOOL, MANPOWER, INSINKERATOR, MILLERCOORS, SNAP ON, and the FBI to name a few.
However, Jimmy is probably best known for his ability as a Cinematographer and Director of Photography. His ability to light and visually tell a story through a lens is what sets him apart. Jimmy was the DP/Cinematographer for the critically acclaimed documentary, SONG SUNG BLUE, which won 8 Best Documentary Awards at film festivals worldwide and was vigorously supported by Roger Ebert, Neil Diamond, and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. Most recently, he was the Director of Photography and co-Producer for THE SURFACE starring Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings, Rudy), Chris Mulkey (Whiplash, Captain Phillips), Mimi Rogers, and directed by Gil Cates Jr.
In addition, he has extensive knowledge of cameras and closely tracks new technology and innovation. This knowledge base, combined with his history of producing, directing, and editing, working with talent, budgets, locations and the numerous logistical and creative choices that go into creating video content, make him one of the most well-rounded film and video production professionals around.
In addition to his world ranking, Jimmy also held the WI state record in the 1000 free for multiple years. He loves Rock n’ Roll music but also enjoys Jazz, R & B, 70’s music, 60’s classics, funk, and country. He is an insane NFL fan, especially where the Green Bay Packers are concerned. He knows enough Italian to get in trouble, loves to cook, playing football with his son, making things with his daughter and loves playing with his children in general. He loves movies (especially drive-ins), holding hands and date nights with his wife, playing sports, building things with his bare hands and riding his Harley.
